Success Stories
The collected experience of our team spans several decades of successful innovation.
The first product designed and engineered by Raphael Volz was a royalty management product that allowed a boutique music label to calculate and distribute the royalties for the artists under contract. The system went life in 1993 and has been used for almost a decade, greatly simplifying the cumbersome calculation of royalties.
A number of the products that we have engineered have become Open Source and the leading tools of their time.
The KAON Ontology Management Tool Suite was created in 2001 as the first integrated ontology management infrastructure that allowed the semiautomatic acquisition of domain knowledge from text, engineering of conceptual structures about a domain of discourse and reasoning with this description using a logic database. This special tool set has seen several thousand downloads.
The OWL API was co-created with Sean Bechhofer in 2003 as part of a research visit and was the first Java API for the W3C web ontology language (OWL). This API, which is still maintained and popular element of Semantic Web applications today, also shows the importance of multiple suppliers, each of the developers brought in their individual knowledge and competence to create a well-structured whole.
Many client engagements that cannot be disclosed have been conducted since those years.
In 2008 we supported innoraise, a new plattform for social search, and helped in only five months to create a business plan, the first version of the product, and a successful launch. innoraise has been awarded the third prize in the international business idea competition of the European Semantic Technology Conference.
Last year, we also supportedĀ Ontoprise, a German software company, with the technical coordination of the projects sponsored by Vulcan.
