Both rewards and risks of creating something new is always high. To maximize your rewards and minimize your risks, we conduct the necessary research to find out what the markets expects, your competitors provide, your capabilites are, and how large the potential of your idea really is. If we think there is no opportunity, we honestly tell you so, and don’t try to push you into the expense of unnecessary creation.

Creating new things is not withour risk either. But this risk can be minimized drastically by experience and proven methodologies. That is why we only support you by seasoned and acclaimed professionals. All our consulting staff has advanced university degrees in either business or engineering and a number of years of working experience. And, they have successfully innovated before. We don’t send you rookies and we have done it before.

Best practice innovation processes create tangible results within months. This is possible by “open innovation” that is building the best team from both internal and external ressources. We help you to avoid reinventing the wheel, identify the best possible supplier, activate state-of-the-art research and protect you from the pitfalls of the international patent system.

We leverage our experience to coordinate the development process. We take over technical project management and architecture and tend to agile, iterative creation where test customers are involved early to ensure that the resulting product meets market expectations. This is possible today, both through rapid prototyping and the large availability of ready-made components that just need to be configured appropriately to mock up and test what you want to create.

Parallel to the creation we help you to formulate a marketing, sales and communication plan that can be executed both internally to prepare your firm for its new offer and inform your existing and new customers about the wonderfull new product that you provide. We involve leading marketing and communication agencies for the purpose of branding and advertising.

Also parallel to the creation we can support you with protecting your intellectual property rights together with your legal counsel of choice. Patent screening has been part of the initial assessment of potential. We leverage this detail understanding when supporting you to prepare your patent fillings with your legal advise of choice. As we have only facilitated your innovation, all intellectual property rights remain with you (and the suppliers you have chosen).

Our clients can stop our involvement at any time at their sole discretion. While our staff typically works 100% for one client only, we also accept mentoring or advisory board positions which allow for (at most three) parallel engagements. After an engagement, our staff typically spends several weeks in our office to expand their skills, test their own ideas and pursue their own research.

Our timing

The time from the first kick off workshop to the last project summary meeting varies for each idea and each client. We have helped Internet startups to create their business plan, build the service and roll it out to reference customers in as few as five months.

Typically the first phase of the innovation process, that we call analytics, takes two to three months and ends with a Go-Or-No-Go decision. This phase is followed by a phase where the team and suppliers are assembled and brought under contract. This phase takes at least six weeks, with contract negotation and staffing being the most time-critical elements. Product design, development and testing can be done in four months for Internet services but take up to three years for cars or pharmaceuticals. The roll out of the product depends on the size of the customer base and can be two months for a single geography to several years for a global deployment.
